Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global break, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.

They have got plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
