Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been harmed by the rains, with their items and shelters damaged.

Heavy precipitation over the recent period have worsened the already dire living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid groups.

"Terrible" Conditions Poses Serious Dangers

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"These conditions was really difficult for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," noted the spokesperson.

Officials express significant concern that minors sheltering in tents in soaked clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

Health authorities have reported that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins due to the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a greater fatality count. Officials said that several homes had totally fallen and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Nearly 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces submerged.
  • Numerous individuals required to move once more.

Relief Efforts Deemed Inadequate

Agencies have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, blankets and garments after the ceasefire commenced, but they stress there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are striving constantly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the needs is so immense that we continue to see thousands of individuals and children who are genuinely suffering every night," stated one representative.

Future Concerns and Truce Terms

The subsequent part of the ceasefire encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of personnel, and other conditions.

Humanitarian groups have stressed the need for "increased and sustained aid to meet urgent and future needs."

The war was sparked by an assault in late 2023. Later actions have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the territory, according to official reports.
