Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed tales. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different location and ensemble in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our common irreverent, visionary approach to the screen.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
