Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
