Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil Among Wolves Head Coach Contenders

Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the process of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
